Beer tender is extremely nice and personable. He really cares about the customer's experience. He is very knowledgeable about beer and will let you taste test before deciding on a beer. Also, the food vendor outside was amazing! I also love the tropical/flamingo themed bathrooms.

Alvarado's beer is always top notch. One of my favorite breweries ever. I finally made it to the actual production spot after years of being a fan. I had been to Monterey and Carmel before many times. Cool, chill taproom with THE best bartender. THANKS Pedro! You rock! Stellar service with all of the regulars and "new" customers. I would be there every day if I lived nearby. The food truck was really good too which was unexpected. And if you know Alvarado Street, when you use the bathroom here, you are walking into a Mai Tai can. Very cool.

As I was saying, after a long hiking trip at the Pinnacles Nat. Park, are gullets were extremely dry! Obviously I (YELPED ) for some liquid refreshments and Alvarado st. Brewery appeared like the scene where the suitcase was opened and a golden ray shined in the movie Pulp Fiction. The place felt very welcoming with its spire tanks of beer all around and the distinct bouquet of fermented hops. Nice extensive brews abound , ipa's , lagers, pils and my choice of stout! That is a Mole Stout ( mōle) with its high alcoholic content and chocolate spicy flavors; this I like! Of course I wanted to try all their 10 types of beer but to no avail; I was driving

I've been drinking the beers from Alvarado for years without ever visiting any of their locations (had beers at shares, bought them from stores, and even special ordered and had them shipped to me). A couple of friends and me took the opportunity to stop by on our drive back to LA from the Bay Area (along the 101). First impression: one of those convivial breweries with a thriving locals aspect and vibe. Friends I was with are really into craft beer, so we felt right at home. The folks here were super friendly and welcoming. As a matter of fact, there were some cookies made from another regular that was offered to us while we were there. And those cookies were delish. They have a good variety of styles on draft, but I opted for the BA Barleywine, which was excellent. They also had the football games playing on the TV there so there was that sports bar aspect without being to crowded/ crazy. This place is located in an industrial area of Salinas. We didn't have a problem at all finding parking. Love their beers and love this spot. I would definitely hit it up more if I was able.

If you're interested in brewing or like to be close to the action of beer production, this is the best choice for you amongst Alvarado's 4 locations. Since they don't open until 2 PM, you can lunch at Main in the Art Deco building and then head here to the production facility; its about 2 miles. The other locations are the original on Alvarado street in Monterey or the bistro and pilot brewery in Carmel. You can observe the entire process (except canning) and I got to watch an entire box of Yakima Chief go into a wonderful smelling hops addition. They produce most of the beer for retail locations and the other taprooms here, so it's a multi barrel brewhouse operation in an industrial area. You can have more in-depth conversations about their beer and anything they can they also sell to go, as well as merchandise and food...I didn't eat food, but its excellent at the other locations. Food's not the focus herein, just beer. There's more of a local crowd here and brewing folks, so it's a fun vibe. You'll turn left into an industrial center with warehouses. It's not about art direction and food like the other locations...it's about making enough canned and keg beer to quell their constant demand. The bathrooms have unique levers on the bottom of the door to open the door touches, which is a nice touch. It's neat they even have this facility open to the public. They don't need to do tours, as you're right in the heart of the action. This is a different location and vibe I enjoyed, but not the one for a date or power lunch. They have a beer garden at the local MLS football stadium in Monterey and when they play, Land & Sea IPA is only $5 here. They have two televisions on the wall. They aren't open on Monday or until 2 PM other days. You get to see how fun it'd be to work in the brewing operation whilst sampling from their broad ale catalog. Not many production facilities would do this and so it's special in that sense alone.
